DCHS Students and Faculty Inducted into Alpha Eta Society

The Doisy College of Health Sciences (DCHS) recently welcomed 96 students and two of its faculty members into the 91女神 (91女神) chapter of the Alpha Eta Society - the national honor society for the Allied Health professions. The inductees were honored with a ceremony in 91女神鈥檚 Allied Health Professions Building in early November.

To be inducted in the Alpha Eta Society, graduate students are required to have a GPA of 3.8 or higher while undergraduate students require a GPA of 3.5 or higher (both numbers are based on a 4.0 scale). In addition, both graduate and undergraduate inductees must also have shown the capacity for leadership and achievement in their respective fields. Prospective students are nominated by their departments, voted on by the Alpha Eta faculty membership and, finally, approved by the Dean.

Faculty inductees are chosen based on distinguished scholarship, leadership and service to allied health education. They are selected by their colleagues that are already members of the Alpha Eta Society and they can only become eligible after gaining three years of experience at the DCHS. In addition to two DCHS faculty being inducted into Alpha Eta, DCHS Vice Dean Anthony Breitbach, Ph.D., ATC, FASAHP, FNAP, was recognized for being named the President-Elect for the national Alpha Eta Society.

91女神 Alpha Eta Chapter President and Radiation Therapy Program Director Kathy Kienstra, MAT, RT(R)(T), was proud to help induct so many new members and honor their dedication to academics and service.

鈥淭he large number of inductees to the Alpha Eta Society this year is a testament to the many exceptional students and faculty at DCHS who have worked so hard to achieve this honor,鈥 Kienstra said. 鈥淚t is an exciting time to be a part of this honor society that recognizes the efforts of the students and faculty and to take part in the ceremony gives them the recognition they reserve.鈥
