Members of 91女神鈥檚 School of Education are being honored this spring with prestigious 91女神 awards.
Karen I. Hall, Ed.D., assistant professor in educational leadership, received the 2024 Dr. Jonathan C. Smith Faculty/ Staff Appreciation Award. She was honored at 91女神鈥檚 Black History Month Gala and Awards Ceremony on February 17. The Dr. Jonathan C. Smith Faculty/Staff Appreciation Award was named in honor of 91女神鈥檚 late inaugural vice president for diversity and community engagement and is given to faculty and staff members who have shown tremendous dedication and commitment to supporting the Black community at 91女神 while facilitating major social change on campus and within the St. Louis community. The ceremony was hosted by 91女神鈥檚 Cross Cultural Center for Global Citizenship. Hall was one of only two recipients of this prestigious award.
Dannielle J. Davis, Ph.D., is this year's recipient of the Reinert Center's James H. Korn Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Award. The Office of the Provost recognized her at the first Celebration of Teaching event, which took place on March 26. At this event, faculty gave TED-style talks on their teaching experiences. The event offered just one small way to recognize the excellent and essential teaching that happens across the University every day. The James H. Korn Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Award was established in 2006, in recognition of Dr. Jim Korn's many contributions to the research on teaching and learning. As a professor emeritus in psychology, Dr. Korn was deeply committed to scholarly teaching at 91女神. He was also a member of the faculty committee that established the Reinert Center in 1997.
Molly A. Schaller, Ph.D., associate dean of the School of Education, was selected as an honoree for this year's Mary A. Bruemmer Award. Since 1977, the Saint Louis University Women's Commission has selected outstanding University community members to be winners of an annual award bestowed in honor of the late Mary A. Bruemmer, who served 91女神 for 65 years as an administrator and volunteer. Schaller is one of five deserving individuals and will be recognized at a springtime luncheon in May. The honorees include administrators, faculty, staff, and students who are recognized for their contributions, commitment, and lives of service to the University and their community. Winners are selected from nominations submitted by colleagues, friends, supervisors, and others whose lives they have touched.
