Office of Student Affairs

The Office of Student Affairs provides guidance, support and administrative assistance to all of our medical students. The office's staff maintains an open-door policy, and is available to answer questions and offer support.

The office coordinates important events like the first-year orientation, the annual White Coat Ceremony and various commencement activities. The office also acts as a liaison to faculty and administration, and assists with academic advising and personal counseling.

Other areas of responsibility of the office include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinating second-year convocation
  • Coordinating fourth-year convocation
  • Overseeing career advising services for students in all years
  • Overseeing student-run organizations
  • Supervising the election of class officers
  • Advising students on research opportunities
  • Participating in the writing of medical student performance evaluations/dean's letters
  • Overseeing the distribution of student awards given at graduation
  • Guiding students interested in rotations/electives in foreign countries
  • Scheduling town hall meetings with the dean, the dean's staff and interested students
  • Supporting students eligible for military reimbursements
