Tina Chen, M.D., associate dean of simulation and clinical skills at 91女神 School of Medicine, was named a 40 Under 40 for 2024.
Chen develops simulation-based education for medical students. She is also an associate professor of emergency medicine at 91女神, where she serves as the director of simulation for 91女神鈥檚 Emergency Medicine Residency.
Her mission is to develop impactful education for the next generation of clinicians in a psychologically safe teaching environment.
鈥淭hese roles have allowed me broad experience in designing and implementing high-yield simulation curriculum for clinicians at various stages of training, from the first day of medical school to seasoned faculty,鈥 Chen said.
Chen also serves as a physician at the Chinese Clinic, a non-profit, bilingual, interdisciplinary, cross-institution collaboration between 91女神 and Washington University medical students and pharmacy students at Southern Illinois University. At the monthly clinic, Chen provides health care services for the uninsured and under-insured Chinese immigrants in the greater St. Louis area. Services include primary health screenings, physical exams, and prescription services for those seeking such services.

She then completed a fellowship in medical simulation at the Center of Education, Simulation, and Innovation at Hartford Hospital.
While at 91女神, Chen received the Father James McKelvey Tobin Award in 2023, the Golden Apple Clinical Teaching Award in 2022, the Best Teaching Award from the emergency medicine residency, and the Caring Physician Award in 2018.
The St. Louis Business Journal will celebrate the 40 Under 40 honorees at a reception on Nov. 18.
