The Department of Psychology at 91女神 works to ensure the student experience is collaborative with activities, speakers and organizations to enhance your learning experience.

Psi Chi

is an international honor society whose purpose shall be to encourage, stimulate, and maintain excellence in scholarship of the individual members in all fields, particularly in psychology, and to advance the science of psychology. Psi Chi is a member of the and is an affiliate of the (APA) and the (APS). Our sister honor society is , the national honor society in psychology for community and junior colleges.

Psi Chi has chapters at more than 1,130 senior colleges and universities. A National Council, composed of psychologists who are Psi Chi members and who are elected by the chapters, guides the affairs of the organization and sets policy with the approval of the chapters.

Membership is open to graduate and undergraduate students who meet the following qualifications:

  • Majoring or minoring in psychology or for a program psychological in nature.
  • Completed at least nine credit hours in the major.
  • Has completed at least three semesters or the equivalent of full-time college coursework (classified as second semester sophomore for undergraduates) or completed 9 semester hours or the equivalent of graduate coursework.
  • Earned a cumulative GPA of a minimum of 3.0 or higher that ranks the student in the top 35% of their class across campus for undergraduates or has earned a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA in graduate coursework for graduate students.

Psi Chi Research Competition Award
The Psi Chi Research Competition Award recognizes the best undergraduate research project in the Department of Psychology.
Psi Chi Sayons Award
The Psi Chi Sayons Award recognizes the most outstanding undergraduate major in the Department of Psychology.
David C. Munz Awards
The David C. Munz Award recognizes students for excellence in the science and practice of industrial-organizational psychology.
Dorothy Orthwein Bates Endowed Scholarship
The Dorothy Orthwein Bates Endowed Scholarship helps students in good standing in the clinical program to facilitate the completion of their degree by eliminating the necessity of concurrent outside employment.
Gayle A. Olson and Richard D. Olson Award
The Gayle A. Olson and Richard D. Olson Award recognizes students in the experimental program for excellence in research at the master's and doctoral levels. An award is given for both a thesis and dissertation each year.
Kathleen Tall Award
The Kathleen Tall Award recognizes the accomplishments of a graduate student in the clinical program who has returned to school after another career, significantly impacted the morale of other students, or demonstrates excellence in both the classroom and clinical practice.
Marilyn K. Rigby Award
The Marilyn K. Rigby Award recognizes a student in either the experimental or industrial-organizational programs who best exemplifies dedication to scholarship and excellence in teaching and service.
Napoli Endowed Teaching Award Fund
The Napoli Endowed Teaching Award Fund recognizes the accomplishments of outstanding teachers in training in the Department of Psychology graduate program.
Nick Colarelli Award
The Nick Colarelli Award honors an outstanding student in the industrial-organizational psychology graduate program.
Outstanding Graduate Student in Clinical Psychology
The Outstanding Graduate Student in Clinical Psychology award recognizes the accomplishments of a student in the clinical program who excels across the areas of academic course work, clinical vertical team performance and research.
Thomas Kramer Award
The Thomas Kramer Award honors outstanding contributions by a student to the industrial-organizational psychology program.
David C. Munz Awards
The David C. Munz Award recognizes students for excellence in the science and practice of industrial-organizational psychology.
Severin Endowed Fund
The Severin Endowed Fund supports graduate student research expenses and travel to present papers at professional meetings.
