Affirmative Action

91女神 is an affirmative action and equal opportunity employer committed to providing fair treatment of all in the 91女神 community on the basis of merit.

As a federal contractor, 91女神 is required to be an affirmative action employer. Affirmative action is the implementation of special recruitment and development efforts to overcome the under-representation of targeted groups to achieve a balanced workforce. Targeted groups include persons of color, women, persons with disabilities, and protected veterans. Under the Vietnam Era Veterans鈥 Readjustment Assistance Act of 1974 (VEVRAA), a protected veteran is one of the following: a disabled veteran, a recently separated veteran (within the last three years), an active-duty wartime or campaign badge veteran, or an Armed Forces service medal veteran. All persons are afforded equal opportunity. It is our policy to recruit, hire, train, promote and in all ways provide fair treatment on the basis of merit. The Affirmative Action Plan (AAP) is available for viewing upon request in the Office of Equal Opportunity and Title IX.

The Office of Equal Opportunity and Title IX is responsible for the administration of the University's equal opportunity and affirmative action policies, programs, and procedures. We work cooperatively with departments to provide training and information on unlawful discrimination and affirmative action issues to increase awareness of these issues throughout the University community and promote the full participation, well-being, and equitable treatment of all students, faculty, and staff.

The office assists in the recruitment of faculty members by monitoring searches and working collaboratively with the search committees, departments, human resources, and employment relations departments.

The office provides recruitment information designed to diversify applicant pools and facilitate hiring opportunities for underrepresented groups.

Although we continue to make progress, there is still much work to be done in this regard. As President of 91女神, I am fully committed to our Affirmative Action Program and retain primary responsibility for its implementation. I have assigned the responsibility for overseeing the coordination and monitoring of our EEO Policy and day-to-day responsibility for its implementation to Seymour Mitchell, Equal Opportunity Officer.

Mr. Mitchell needs your assistance and support in achieving these objectives, and I am sure you will give him your usual fine level of cooperation.鈥
