Student Health Center Staff

The 91女神 Student Health Center provides medical treatment, outpatient services, and a variety of educational programs for all full-time, part-time, and graduate students at 91女神. 

Our physicians are faculty of the 91女神 School of Medicine. Our staff includes multispecialty clinicians in an effort to best serve the health and wellness needs of all students.

Katie Skosky (she/her) is a proud graduate of 91女神 School of Nursing and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. She holds degrees in both chemistry and nursing. Katie has worked in trauma, orthopedics, pediatric intensive care and cardiology. She initially started at the Student Health Center in 2014 as a registered nurse and was given the opportunity to return in 2022 as the director. Katie loves working with the students at 91女神 and thoroughly enjoys the intellectual stimulation they provide. Katie is certified in family medicine and collaborates with Jamil Neme, M.D.

Linghua Xiao is a seasoned business manager who has a rich background in handling diverse business challenges and responsibilities. Her extensive experiences span from research administration, budgeting, financial reporting and analysis. Linghua oversees administrative and fiscal operations in the student health center, ensuring smooth daily functioning. She supports the clinical director in overseeing patient services and acts as a liaison between 91女神 and SSM Health for revenue collection, EPIC implementation, and expense reconciliation. Linghua directly supervises administrative functions like registration, scheduling, medical records, insurance/billing and shares responsibility for the Student Health Insurance Plan.

Linghua holds both a Master of Accounting and a Master of Healthcare Administration degree.

Alison (Ali) Bradley is the nurse supervisor for the Student Health Center and has been with 91女神 since 2005. She has worked as a registered nurse since 1994 and in healthcare since 1989. Ali graduated from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and worked in the hospital setting in medical-surgical, orthopedic, step-down cardiac units, long-term care, and college health. Working at 91女神 is by far her favorite. She has been honored with multiple excellence awards from 91女神, including Leadership and Unsung Hero.

Ali prays and loves listening to music (all genres) and volunteers for our Saint Louis University and St. Louis community. Ali has one child of her own but takes care of many. She grew up in the Chicago area but considers herself a St. Louisan.

Thomas Olsen, M.D.

Thomas Olsen, M.D. is an internal medicine specialist, providing evaluation and management of medical conditions, coordination of care, medical screenings, preventive health care, and patient education. He is interested in promoting primary care medicine among medical students and using research as a tool in primary care.

Olsen is a professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of General Internal Medicine, at 91女神 School of Medicine.

He is a council member of the Missouri chapter of the American College of Physicians.

St. Louis Magazine has awarded Olsen the 鈥淏est Doctor鈥 designation since 2005.

Jane Tucker, M.D.

Jane Tucker is a primary care physician with 91女神Care Family Medicine, where she serves as the department's medical director. She is also an associate professor with the Department of Family and Community Medicine at 91女神 School of Medicine.

Tucker attended medical school at Queens University at Kingston before completing her residency at McMaster University School of Medicine. 


Nancy Delaney, M.D.

Nancy Delaney started her career at the Student Health Center in 2000. She graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Brown University. Following undergraduate studies she attended medical school at Brown University and graduated in 1980. She completed her residency in internal medicine in 1983 at the University of Florida after which she did a fellowship in endocrinology at Washington University in St. Louis from 1983-1985. In her spare time, she travels with her husband to birdwatch around the globe.

William Mitchell, M.D.

., works with athletes of all ages and abilities. His areas of expertise include overuse injuries, fractures and concussions. He also treats tendonitis, sprains and strains, stress fractures, bone contusions, plantar fasciitis and running injuries. In his practice, he provides injury diagnosis and management. He sees patients for sports physicals, joint injections, casting and splinting, physical therapy referrals and exercise prescriptions.

Mitchell applies the latest techniques in his work with athletes, including compartment pressure testing for exertional compartment syndrome. Research interests include stress fractures and other overuse bone injuries, concussions and the female athlete triad.

Mitchell is an assistant professor in the at 91女神 School of Medicine. He is a member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine. He is the team physician for 91女神 and Fontbonne University. In his spare time, he plays guitar and bass guitar.

Jamil Neme, M.D., CAQSM

is a primary care sports medicine physician and assistant professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at 91女神 School of Medicine. After growing up in the Detroit area, he received his undergraduate and medical degrees from Creighton University. Afterward, he completed a residency in family medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where he also served as chief resident. He then completed a fellowship in primary care sports medicine at Saint Vincent 鈥 Allegheny Health. He serves as medical co-director at SSM Sports Medicine as well as team physician for St. Louis Sabres, 91女神, UMSL, Harris-Stowe State University and Fontbonne University. His professional areas of interest include sports medicine, preventative medicine and community health awareness. He enjoys cooking, playing basketball, and is an avid Detroit sports fan.

Jill Powell, M.D. 

., specializes in pediatric/adolescent gynecology, focusing on menstrual problems, pelvic pain, and care for special needs or medically complex adolescents. In her practice, she provides management of menstrual issues, testing and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases, cervical cancer screening and evaluation (including colposcopy and loop electrosurgical excision procedure, or LEEP), and adolescent gynecological health education.

She is interested in research that investigates chronic pelvic pain; the association of prenatal factors, birth weight and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) in adolescents; and gynecologic issues in patients with ectodermal dysplasia.

Powell is an associate professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Women鈥檚 Health, , at 91女神 School of Medicine.

She serves on the Scientific Advisory Council of the National Foundation for Ectodermal Dysplasia.

When not teaching or treating patients, Powell enjoys waterskiing, snow skiing, and cheering for her undergraduate alma mater, the University of Michigan.

Michael Cooper, D.O.

, is a board-certified adult psychiatrist focusing on the mental health needs of Saint Louis University鈥檚 student population. He diagnoses and treats all types of psychiatric conditions such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, schizophrenia, substance use issues, eating disorders and OCD. He graduated from 91女神 residency where he served as the chief of psychiatry.

He is interested in researching substance use issues, mood disorders as well as the impact of chronic medical conditions on patients鈥 mental health.

Cooper is an associate professor in the Department of Psychiatry, at 91女神 School of Medicine and teaches its psychiatric residents.

When not teaching or treating patients, he enjoys spending time with his family and traveling. He enjoys playing soccer and cheering for all St. Louis sports teams.

Mariah Boncek, PA

grew up in Indiana, but frequently visited family in St. Louis. She went to Drake University for her undergraduate degree, where she majored in biology and minored in psychology. She attended 91女神 for her Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies. Following graduation, she worked at the Assisted Recovery Center of America, where she specialized in addiction medicine. She has received her certificate of added qualifications in psychiatry and now works with 91女神 Hospital in behavioral medicine at Monteleone Hall and the Student Health Center.

Pam Abbott, D.P.T., PT, OCS

Pam Abbott has been a board-certified orthopedic clinical specialist since 2004 with experience and an emphasis on sports rehab. She is a faculty member in the Program in Physical Therapy and the 91女神-SSM Health Physical Therapy Orthopedic Residency Program. Abbott earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees from 91女神, and during her time as a Billiken she was a member of the field hockey team. Abbott enjoys being active outdoors with her family, which includes her husband, three sons and dog.

Mike Markee, PT, D.P.T., OCS, COMT, ATC 

Mike Markee is a physical therapist and athletic trainer with certifications in orthopedics and manual therapy. He earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy from MGH Institute of Health Professions and his Ph.D. in public and social policy from 91女神. Markee works with athletes in their rehabilitation emphasizing efficient movement patterns that allow for an effective return to sport. He has experience in a variety of athletic settings, including with high school, collegiate, and professional athletes.

Chris Sebelski, PT, D.P.T., OCS, CSCS, Ph.D.

Chris Sebelski is an associate professor in the Program in Physical Therapy. She has a Ph.D., in higher education and leadership. Her area of scholarship and recent publications focus on leadership in healthcare, competencies of leadership, and the impact of self-efficacy on behavior change. She is the founding and current program director of the SSM Health/91女神 Physical Therapy Orthopedic Residency. She is the interim department chair and in a variety of leadership positions at the University level, including long-standing service in shared governance.

Professional service includes serving as the chair of the ACAPT Clinical Reasoning Curricular & Assessment Consortium and nationally for the ABPTRFE Accreditation Services Committee. Additionally, Sebelski has presented information related to visual analysis of human movement, clinical reasoning, and evidence-based practice in musculoskeletal physical therapy at international and national conferences. Her faculty roles involve teaching, research, and clinical practice. Her teaching focus is within clinical reasoning and her clinical practice is in the orthopedic population.

Karen Vespa, M.P.T., PT, OCS

Karen Vespa earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from 91女神 and a Master of Physical Therapy from Emory University. She has extensive clinical experience in both acute care and outpatient musculoskeletal physical therapy, and she is a board-certified specialist in orthopedic physical therapy. In addition to maintaining her clinical practice at the 91女神 Physical Therapy Clinic on campus, she also teaches multiple courses throughout the physical therapy curriculum, and she is a faculty member in the 91女神-SSM Health Physical Therapy Orthopedic Residency Program.

Eric Bellm D.P.T, PT, OCS

Eric Bellm is an assistant professor in the Program of Physical Therapy at 91女神. He received his Doctor of Physical Therapy from 91女神 and completed his orthopedic residency at Ohio State University. Bellm is a board-certified specialist in orthopedic physical therapy from the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. In the D.P.T. program, he teaches in orthopedic and sports evaluation and treatment. He serves as a mentor and educator within the 91女神-SSM Health Physical Therapy Residencies. He maintains his clinical practice and specializes in the evaluation and treatment of overhead athletes, collegiate athletes and youth athletes. His primary research interest is in upper-extremity strength and return-to-sport testing. Additionally, he explores group-based approaches to sport rehabilitation. He has lectured locally and nationally on a variety of subjects related to youth athletes and overhead athletes.

Brittany Ciaramita, PT, D.P.T., OCS

Brittany Ciaramita earned her Master of Physical Therapy degree from 91女神 in 2004 and is a board-certified specialist in orthopedic physical therapy. Originally working for Mercy after graduation, she has worked at 91女神 since 2009, splitting her time between teaching physical therapy classes while also treating students and athletes on campus. Ciaramita has certifications in SFMA for specific movement analysis and further specialized training in running gait analysis. Ciaramita, a marathoner herself, enjoys working with collegiate and recreational athletes to improve their movement patterns and help them return to running or specialized sport.

Sarah Peniston, M.P.T.

Sarah Peniston holds a Master of Physical Therapy from Maryville University with a Bachelor of Health Sciences and a psychology minor. She started at 91女神 as an adjunct faculty member in 2012 and has treated students and athletes through 91女神 PT since fall 2021.  She has worked in an outpatient setting for almost 20 years, treating patients across the lifespan with an orthopedic and sports focus.  She is certified in functional movement screening (FMS), selective functional movement assessment (SFMA), and ergonomics assessment specialist (CEAS) I & II. Her other experience includes treating patients through workers' compensation programs with ergonomic assessments and return to work activities.

Tammy Cook M.S., RD, LD, CEDS

Tammy Cook specializes in the treatment of all eating disorders and works with people of all ages. She is one of only a select few dietitians in the state of Missouri who is a certified eating disorder specialist. Cook has been in the nutrition and eating disorder fields for over 30 years. She has worked as a dietitian in the following areas: clinical; nutrition support; home health; public speaking; body image workshop and seminar development; corporate wellness; weight management; bariatrics; fitness; culinary; and residential, partial, intensive and outpatient eating disorder treatment centers. She has also helped to develop multiple outpatient eating disorder programs.

Cook takes an individualized approach with each of her clients. She utilizes concepts from HAES (Health at Every Size), Intuitive Eating, Eating Competence, Mindful Eating, CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy), ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention), Meal Therapy/Experiential Therapy and MNT (Medical Nutrition Therapy). When Tammy works with clients needing MNT for clinical concerns, this includes but isn鈥檛 limited to diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, gastrointestinal issues, metabolic problems, food allergies, the need for weight gain or loss, stunted growth, and helping children and adults who are extreme selective eaters. In addition, she believes people can recover from their eating disorders and lead healthful, joyful, and satisfying lives.

Cook has been in recovery from an eating disorder for over 35 years. One of her main goals is to instill hope in her clients that recovery is possible. She is living proof that people can have a sustainable and healthy relationship to food.

Elise Molner has worked at the Student Health Center since 2019. Prior to joining the team full-time, she worked in Emergency Medicine. Molner graduated from Loyola University Chicago in 1998 with a BSN. She enjoys working with sports medicine. She loves to travel to national parks and hike with her husband and three children in her free time. She has been to over 25 national parks! She loves watching sports and enjoys cheering on our local sports teams, including the Billikens!

Barb Merz has gained experience in many areas throughout her healthcare journey, from working in intensive care, pain management, and with a spine surgeon to research and with students at Washington University in St. Louis before joining the Saint Louis University Student Health team. As a nurse since 1986, Merz still loves working with people and managing the needs of each of her patients. When she isn鈥檛 busy providing 91女神 students with compassion-centered care, she loves family time, baking/cooking, and sewing.

Nick Eades has been a nurse since 2013 in a multitude of specialties. He spent four years as a travel nurse before coming to work at Student Health. While working at the Student Health Center, Eades wears many hats but is mainly in charge of running the lab. He is also a student at the University, where he is pursuing a bachelor's in cybersecurity.

Amanda Hotop started her career as a nurse's aide in 2002. She obtained her LPN in 2007, RN licensure in 2011, and a Bachelor of Nursing in 2014. Hotop started working contractually at the Student Health Center during the COVID-19 pandemic and was asked to join the team officially in 2022. She enjoys travel, adventure, and learning about other cultures in her free time. She admires the beauty in nature and in people. Hotop loves working at the Student Health Center because she has the opportunity to experience and share bits of all the things she loves every day and build genuine connections with students.

Charlotte (Debbie) Catanzaro started her career as an LPN in 1970 and became an RN in 1972. She has been with the 91女神 Student Health Center since its inception in July of 1992. She openly admits this has been the best job she has ever had. She has held many roles throughout her tenure including nurse and assistant director. Her interests outside of SHC include her family: three children (two in-law children) and five grandchildren (their sports, music, plays, scouts, etc.). Catanzaro notes her time at SHC has been very exciting and she has loved every minute meeting students, faculty, and staff from every country you can imagine. She often says "they have all taught me a thing or two." She has thoroughly enjoyed being a contributor to the growth of Student Health and they would not be where they are today if not for her.

Paige Bernau sees her role at 91女神 Health Center as an opportunity to partner with students in all aspects of their wellness, to position them for academic success and service to the world. The fact that 91女神 staff and students are an incredible population to work with is a bonus! Bernau, a nurse since 2016, has worked primarily in public health and brings a community-centered approach to her work with 91女神 students. She believes cultivating a healthy 91女神 community best prepares individual students and staff to live a healthy life.

Kristin (Kris) Bradley graduated from Loyola-New Orleans with a Bachelor of Science in Music Therapy in 2020. She is a practicing certified music therapist as well as a licensed medical assistant. Bradley is a student in the Accelerated Master of Science in Nursing program at 91女神 with expected graduation in May 2024. She loves working with students and within the 91女神 community.

Tammy Siegel is a licensed radiology technologist. She received her Associate of Science from Southwestern College of Illinois in 2003. She was welcomed to the team in November 2022. She enjoys helping people and caring for her patients and believes life is how you choose your path.

 


Camy Maloney

Camy Maloney joined the Student Health Center in 2018. After relocating with her family for a few years, she returned in 2023. Camy is originally from Louisiana but has lived all over as a military spouse. Camy graduated from nursing school in 1997 and, outside of Student Health, has worked in inpatient pediatrics in Louisiana and Florida. Camy has two children and loves spending time with them and her husband. Camy is thrilled to be back in Saint Louis, where she can work at the Student Health Center and spend time with her extended family.

When she is not working and studying at 91女神 she enjoys spending her remaining time with her Great Dane, Betsy.
