Medicolegal Forensic Autopsy

9 to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2025

  • The word autopsy is formed from two Greek words: autos and optos, which mean "self" and "seen" respectively. Thus, autopsy means "the act of seeing with one's own eyes." It is commonly known as a postmortem examination. A medicolegal autopsy or forensic autopsy is done in deaths due to unnatural causes and in natural cases also, where the cause of death is not certain. The aim and objectives of the medicolegal autopsy are to help the law enforcement agencies to ascertain the identity of the deceased, cause of death, type of weapon used, time since death, manner of death and to collect any trace evidence that might be present. Join the AIMS program in welcoming the 91Å®Éñ Department of Forensic Science in what is sure to be an auditorium program you won't want to miss!
