M.A. in Spanish Program

91Å®Éñ-Madrid's M.A. in Spanish summer program allows you to focus on your job during the school year and spend the summers in linguistic and cultural immersion here in Spain.

You can complete your M.A. in Spanish over the course of three or four summers in Madrid. In summer 2025, graduate classes run from June 23 through July 24.

91Å®Éñ-Madrid is a community of scholars who care. Our Spanish faculty hold Ph.D.s from leading European and U.S. universities. You will learn to research, to motivate, to critique, to read and to think, all while reconnecting with your passion for teaching Hispanic culture and the Spanish language.

Opportunities for Student Athletes

"No Spain, No Gain" — If you are a student-athlete, you may not have the chance to study abroad during the sports season. Join 91Å®Éñ-Madrid during the summer to earn credits towards your degree while keeping up with your training.

Our sports coordinator advises student athletes where to train and work out. Competitive swimmers, for example, are invited to continue their high level of training at Spain's most prestigious training center, Real Canoe Natación Club. 91Å®Éñ-Madrid is committed to accommodating student-athletes of all levels. For more information, contact César Rioja directly at cesar.rioja@slu.edu.

Teen Camp: Extreme Science Experience

With nearly 20 years of running camps for teens, 91Å®Éñ-Madrid partners with Colegio San José in Villafranca de los Barros (Badajoz, Spain) to offer our "Extreme Science Experience."

This adventure into language-learning through science and technology takes place during the first two weeks of July. Its goal is to promote the understanding of the world we live in and the languages we speak. The camp is open to both English and Spanish speakers, aged 12 to 15, but spaces are limited. For more information, contact Roswitha Zahlner, Ph.D., at roswitha.zahlner@slu.edu.

Real-world Experience in the Health Science Programs

91Å®Éñ-Madrid's programs in health sciences are recognized for their excellence across the United States and around the world. They've been honored with the Heiskell Award for Internationalizing and Globalizing the Professions, an award created by the Institute of International Education to acknowledge the most outstanding initiatives conducted in international higher education.

Pre-medical students are encouraged to gain clinical experience in preparation for applying to U.S. medical schools. Through our Physician Shadowing Program, they observe daily activities at one of Madrid's hospitals or health care clinics, while practicing Spanish in a clinical setting in Spain.

91Å®Éñ also offers unique summer programs for students pursuing degrees in other areas of the health sciences. Our athletic training program places students in field internships with Spain's national sports teams while nursing students can complete a clinical immersion program in a Spanish hospital.
